If any tuning company can bring the Murcielago back into the limelight, its Edo Competition. The company set their sights on the LP640 before, over a year and a half ago when it produced the fastest Murcielago in the world. Now the German tuner is setting its sights on the car one last time, offering up the LP750.
The modifications start where the previous car left off. Last time, Edo’s worked over LP640 produced 710 horsepower and 516 pound feet of torque. Those figures were good enough for a top speed of 219 mph at the Papenburg test track. That is a record that has yet to be broken.

google_ad_client = “pub-8213487891390535″;google_ad_slot = “5591521468″;google_ad_width = 300;google_ad_height = 250; A new aerodynamics package and redesigned rear wing hint at the changes underneath with the LP750. It looks quite mean with its black and green exterior finish that isn’t over the top.
As its name implies, the new cars gets a bump in power to 750 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque. Those are figures that look to beat the Murcielago’s replacement, and with specs like this it isn’t hard to see why: 227 mph top speed, 0-62 mph in 3.1 seconds, 124 mph in 9.7 seconds and 186 mph in a startling 24.5 seconds.
To wring the extra 110 horsepower over the standard car’s 6.5-liter V-12, Edo installed a high-flow airbox and reengineered cylinder heads, while adding a laundry list of components developed from the ground up for use in this car. They include high performance exhaust headers, high flow catalytic converters, more aggressive camshafts, bucket tappets, mufflers, exhaust tips and high flow air filters.
To help the engine breath better and increase power, Edo designed an all-new intake system with a handmade intake manifold and air ducts. The car’s electronic control unit (ECU) was also reprogrammed to handle the extra power.
To boot, Edo offers the ability to convert the car from its standard all-wheel drive setup to rear-wheel drive. Doing so offers a weight savings of 88 pounds. With all that power though, we think we’d stick with the all-wheel drive system. Modifications will take place in Ahlen Germany, where Edo Competition is located.
Related posts:Edo Competition Lamborghini Murcielago LP640Edo Competition Lamborghini Murci̬lago LP710 /2Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 РVideo

When they released their first teaser of the new car scheduled to be unveiled during the 2010 Paris Motor Show, they didn’t give us much (any) information about the car. This time, they’ve given us a bit of an insight into what the car is all about.
Lamborghini mentions in the their press release that the two main reasons people buy their cars is for design and performance. And for performance, the priority is as follows, in descending order of importance: top speed, acceleration, and handling. But today’s supercars all have a ridiculously high top speed – well in excess of what we can drive not only on the roads, but even the track. So Lambo is proposing that the newest supercars must focus on handling and acceleration. I couldn’t agree more.
So what’s to change? They first mention the power-to-weight ratio. This is the almighty number in regards to performance – much more important than raw horsepower or torque. So they already have plenty of power, and with the focus on efficiency in today’s cars, they’re most likely to focus on reducing weight wherever possible. Looks like Lotus has been spot-on all these years after all. So how to noticeably decrease weight while continuing to have all the required safety and convenience features? Two words:
Carbon Fiber.
Also check out the other teaser images: the first teaser the third
Related posts:Third Teaser Pic of the Lamborghini JotaLamborghini Releases Final Teaser Image of the New EstoqueLamborghini Teases New Murcielago Replacement

Automopedia is taking a quick trip up to its favourite Canadian Province – We’re headed directly to Quebec City and not just for the poutine! It’s time for 2010’s Quebec Auto Show. And Lamborghini will be there to present a slew of exotic cars as part of their “Expo Lambo” event.

Gilles Lessard, organizer of the show, is very proud to announce “nearly three million dollars of pure-blooded machines!” will be part of Lambo’s piece.

This attraction, located amongst other foreign and domestic car makes at Centre de foires de Québec in Quebec City until March 7, is made up of four Lamborghini’s on loan from collectors: a Super Trofeo GTR, the only one of its kind in North America (0,000), an LP 650-4 Roadster unique in Canada (9,000), an LP 670-4 SV (4,000) and an LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni (9,860), the only one of their kind in Quebec.

Quebec Auto Show show’s organizers are ready to present a “beefed-up version” for this year. Many of the vehicles will make their first appearance in this part of the Nation: including the 2011 Ford Focus and Mustang, Fiat 500, the new Hyundai Sonata, Infiniti M, Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet and Kia’s Forte Hybrid.

Every year, the government authorities responsible for running and developing the Centre de foires de Québec promise to expand the grounds. The project currently on the table plans for nothing less than doubling the square footage.

But take it from an auto writer who once lived in Montreal, Quebec: workers love a strike, and their officials love to take their time with any and all projects. So expect this expo center to be finally reinvented sometime in 2019. Gotta love the separatist mentality. But until then be sure to check out one of the biggest car events to hit this part of Canada in 2010!

By the way, for those not in “the know” – this is poutine:

Gulp! In one word: Gulp! The Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera is “Even more dynamic, lighter, more powerful and stunning” than its predecessor, says Lambo. That might be, but one thing that is certainly true is that the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera is the new top model in the Gallardo line-up.

The weight of the Gallardo Superleggera, as the Superleggera name would imply, has been trimmed by 154 lb. and the sports car from Sant’Agata Bolognese boasts a dry weight of no more than 2954 lb making it the lightest road-going model in Lamborghini’s range.

The use of carbon fiber in the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera is the key factor in weight reduction and improved mechanical features. There’s carbon fiber all over the place, and I do have to say that the interior trim bits do look rather nice.

What is also rather nice is nestled in the engine bay. That’s where the V10 power unit lives. The 5.2 liters (317,6 cu in) plant generates 419 kW (570 CV*) in the Gallardo Superleggera. This puts the weight-to-power ratio of the new top model at only 2.35 kilograms (5.18 lb) per CV and “guarantees breathtaking performance.” Yeah, you could say that again. The Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera goes from zero to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and flies past the 200 km/h mark in only 10.2 seconds. The beast will top out at 325 km/h (202 mph). Lambo also hastens to point out that the new mill is direct injection unit, “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata” (which sounds so continental, doesn’t it?) and boasts an impressive degree of efficiency. The fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 20.5 percent compared to the previous model. The Gallardo Superleggera rides on 19-inch wheels and Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.

So, there’s very little to dislike about the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera. Apart from that horrid green color, that is.

Two shiny new exotic cars – a Lamborghini Murcielago and Ferrari F430 – wrecked into each other in South Africa, and that’s not even interesting part. The two drivers involved were attending a wedding reception for the family of the ruling political party in the town of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, when the cars collided. The Lamborghini was apparently driven by a former hitman convicted of six murders, but was granted political amnesty and let off.

According to WreckedExotics:

After the accident, the drivers apparently beat up people who were trying to take photos. After the police arrived, they took no statement or accident report and ignored the beatings. A light pole that was bent in half will be repaired using tax payer money.
